Date and Orange Scones

Would you like a weekend breakfast idea? Try these scrumptious Date and Orange Scones!

  1. Preheat the oven to 210 degrees. In a bowl, combine the chopped dates with the orange juice and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave for 1-2 minutes, until the dates absorb the orange juice. Add the chopped orange.
  2. In a separate bowl, process the flour, salt and butter, until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the warm milk to the date and orange mixture, stir to combine then mix quickly into the flour with a spatula, without kneading.
  4. Turn onto a floured bench. Dust the top of the mixture with flour and pat out flat with your hands.
  5. Cut the mixture into squares or rounds. Place the scones on a tray. Bake for about 20 minutes. Decorate with orange rind and icing sugar.
